The laptop will not power on, whether plugged in or not.

Sleep mode is indicated by the power light blinking, but the computer may still not starting up with the power button.

  • Start by disconnecting the battery, the procedure for which can be found in the battery replacement guide.
  • Hold the power button down for at least 20 seconds to discharge the system.
  • After reconnecting the battery, insert the AC power adapter.

At this point, if the problem has been fixed, the laptop should start normally. If no lights are visible on the computer, the battery or charging system could be damaged.

Make sure the power adapter is plugged in and displaying a light. If the light is not visible then consider replacing the power adapter.

  • First check the receptor for AC adapter by gently wiggling around the cord where it connects to the laptop and looking for the charging light to come on.
  • Check for a bad AC adapter by attempting to start the laptop with the adapter plugged in and the battery disconnected.

If the adapter appears to be in good order, the battery could need replacement.

Make sure battery is fully charged by observing the light color displayed on the laptop i.e. green light normally means fully charged. If laptop only works while the power adapter is plugged in, then the battery needs to be replaced by using this guide.

The computer has successfully powered on, but is stuck in the Lenovo loading screen.

Start by quickly pressing F4 during startup to attempt a start in safe mode. If this is unsuccessful, the laptop may may have one of the following issues.

The computer may have detected a hard drive issue and switched the boot priority, which is causing the laptop to look for the operating system in the wrong location such as a CD or USB drive.

  • During startup, quickly press F2 to enter the laptop's BIOS (basic input/output system).
  • Enter the boot menu using the enter and arrow keys.
  • For the list of recognized devices, check to make sure that the boot priority is set to the hard drive. If not, switch the boot priority back to hard drive and save settings.
  • Reboot the computer.

If this worked, the laptop will advance to the operating system normally.

If boot priority and safe mode are not fixing the boot up problem, the hard drive may be dead.

  • Once again enter the BIOS using the F2 key upon startup.
  • Find and run the diagnostics test using the enter and arrow keys.
  • This test should report if the hard drive is in working condition.

If the hard drive is indeed dead, see the hard drive replacement guide.

The keys on your keyboard will not respond to pushing on it.

If keys are missing, replace them here.

If keys are stuck in place there might be a sticky substance stuck below the key. To fix this issue, click here. Make sure to wipe down the area before replacing the keys.

The screen is flickering pink and other colors.

Connect another monitor to the Edge 15 through the HDMI port. If the other monitor does not display the same pink tint, then the LCD screen on the Edge 15 should be replaced.

Check if Windows has recognized an issue with the graphics card. Open the Windows Control Panel. Click on “Systems and Security” then navigate to “Device Manager.” Open “Display Adapters” and select the name of the graphics card “ATI Mobility Radeon HD.” Information under “Device Status” will indicate whether the graphics card needs to be fixed or replaced.

If both the screen and graphics card do not resolve the issue, replace the inverter.

Trying to access internet through the wireless router (wifi connection) seems to be unreliable, while only working some of the time or is really weak. Many things could cause connection issues. Those could include damage of the wireless card, corrupted driver software, improper installation, malware infection and improper configuration.

If the network connection settings and WAN card are working fine, and your laptop cannot detect a wireless network, it could be the pre-installed Lenovo Readycomm software, which is supposed to help manage the wifi network connection on your computer. It's possible that the software is preventing a wifi driver from doing its job for the network adapter.

  • Uninstall the Lenovo Readycomm and reinstall the wifi adapter drivers to help clear this problem.

You have a wifi connection, yet it seems to be intermittent -- coming and going as it pleases. This seems to happen even after resetting the connection ( turning wifi switch on your computer off, then on again).

  • Go to 'Device Manager' on the 'Control Panel'.
  • Go to 'wireless card properties'.
  • Uncheck 'allow Windows to power down card for power saving purposes'.

No access to the internet could mean damage to the wireless access point (where your router is hooked up) from a malware infection or corrupt driver. This will show you a 'No connectivity' error.

  • Uninstall wireless card driver software.
  • Scan your system to remove anything that might be posing a threat.
  • Reinstall driver software.
  • Update software.

In the case that the hardware within your laptop which controls access to wifi has been physically damaged, here is where you can find a guide to replace the WAN card.

Your touchscreen seems to stop responding to touch capabilities, such as finger scrolling. This might be happening frequently over time, or has failed to work all together. This could be due to missing drivers that failed to update, or that have been disabled, or it could be a hardware problem

In Device Manager, you should be able to see if there are any screen drivers that have been disabled, or any errors in general.

  • Go to 'Device Manager'.
  • Select 'Human Interface Devices'.
  • Check for errors (exclamation points).
  • Enable any 'Disabled' screen drivers.

Sometimes, running the Hardware and Device troubleshooter is all it takes to find the problem.

  • Go to 'Control Panel' (Windows Key+R and type Control Panel works).
  • Type 'troubleshooting' into the search bar, and click on 'troubleshooting'.
  • Click on 'Hardware and Sound'.
  • Click on 'Hardware and Devices'.
  • Follow the steps to run the troubleshooter.

Screen drivers just might need updating . You can search for updates for screen drivers from Device Manager.

  • Go to 'Device Manager'.
  • Expand 'Human Interface Devices' tab.
  • Find 'Touch screen driver'.
  • Right-Click on driver icon.
  • Click 'Update Driver Software'
  • Click on 'Search automatically for the updated driver software'.
  • Follow instructions to update the 'touchpad' driver.

You can also check Windows updates for any latest driver updates available and install

  • Windows Key+W.
  • Type 'Updates' into the search bar.
  • Click 'Install optional updates' from left pane.
  • From Windows Update window, click 'Check for Updates' on top left corner.
  • Install all the updates listed there.

If no driver updates are available, you might be able to search for updated touchpad device drivers in the 'Drivers' and 'Driver Store' folders in the location C:/Windows/System32 by selecting the option Browse my computer for Driver Software.

Still, if you are unable to find any latest drivers in the computer, then check in the computer manufacturer’s website for the latest Windows operating system you are running for drivers for the touch screen. If they are available, then download and install them on the computer.

If there is something physically wrong with the touchscreen and it needs replacing, a guide for replacing the touch screen can be found here.
