- The driver lrtrees linked to is indeed the latest driver for our Intel 82583V Gigabit Network Connection 16.8.0.0 (December 2011) This isn't the only driver that is out of date on ASUS Crosshair V Formula page either.

'Ok here is what I did, and it worked. (This is for people with an Intel 82583V Integrated NIC, I.e. As found on the ASUS CROSSHAIR V FORMULA-Z, but may work for others.)
Goto the ASUS CROSSHAIR V FORMULA-Z Driver Download page, Select Windows 8 64 Bit (Not 8.1!)
Download the Intel LAN Drivers Dated '2013/10/21' and you can pick a place to unzip them (but remember where of course)
Download the New Build via PC Settings, and when it says it needs to reboot unplug the network cable and proceed.
When its done and you are at the desktop open device manager go to the Intel 82583V, right click, and click update driver.

After installing Windows Server 2012 on my homebrew server, the onboard Intel 82579V Gigabit NIC on the Asus P9X79 motherboard was not working.
